Help Us Get Our Event Space, Community Center, & Artist Home!

Welcome family.  My name is Luis Marrero. I am 32 years young and vibrant and a Philadelphia native. I am a father, a son, a brother, a friend... I am also an event curator, a spoken word artist, a business owner, and a professional encourager. I am the Founder of Voices In Power, LLC, of The Marketplace Philly, 501(c)3, and hopefully, if when we are successful (speak things into existence) in our crowd funding, the Founder of Seven:AM. Seven:AM will stand on three pillars: being an Event Space, a Community Center, and an Artists Home. I've been curating experiences with Voices In Power for over 10 years now, The Marketplace Philly for about 2 years, and I am blown away by what it's become and who it's helped me become. My heart has been filled and overflowing for years now and it's thanks to all of our supporters, our community, and those we encounter through all of our efforts. My purpose in this lifetime is to serve and the people I am called to serve are artists and our neighbors in communities that aren't receiving the love and light they deserve and so desperately need. And that is why I do all that I do and will always choose to do it in and with love. If I could describe…

Feed the Homeless Photo

JRE Mobile Outreach: Each One Reach One

Each One Reach One is focused on feeding the homeless the day after Christmas by giving out $5.00 McDonalds gift cards. In 2018 with the generous help of donors we were able to feed 100 homeless men and women. There was a time in my life when I was homeless. I can never forget the feeling I felt of wanting a hot meal to eat the day after the holiday passed. I will never forget that when I smelled the aroma of someone else's food how my stomach would turn and my taste buds would love to have that meal that I could not afford. As a result of this, some years later, I have come up with this idea of feeding the homeless. Most, if not all, Charitys or non profit organizations feed the homeless on the day of the holiday (which is a blessing), but what about the day after, when the hot food is gone, and the memory of yesterday still lingers in their mind? Please help us feed those homeless men and women on the day after Christmas by giving what you can. No amount is too small or too big and is truly appreciated. December 26, 2018 we were able to feed 100 homeless men and woman with help of generous donations. This year can we raise the…

Help A Young BIPOC With Tuition

I'm not able to receive any help from my family, as in this pandemic, they are struggling with money. Earlier this month, I started a GoFundMe, and it has lost all traction. I'm beginning to fear that I won't be able to finish the rest of my first year of college. I'm not the type of person to reach out and ask for help, but this is all I can do at this point. I ask for any amount that you're able to give, and I am truly thankful for every last bit!

Take Climate Change into Your Own Hands

The Big 3 Trends     GreenSeed sits at the center of three huge trends that are evolving as we speak. First, after decades of intensive research and technological development, the cost of renewable energy has fallen so much that it is now competitive with traditional forms of energy. True, much work still needs to be done and researchers continue to develop new ways to harness tidal energy, or improve the efficiency of solar panels, but we have arrived at a critical pivot in the development of renewable energy. Solar, wind, hydro, and other alternatives will begin to surge in the coming years as their efficacy at large and small scale are proven, and traditional forms of investment flow into their deployment. Unfortunately, as is so often the case, we are concerned that those most in need of lower cost renewable energy will be the last to receive its benefits, such as low income and minority households. This trend toward economic competitiveness is met at precisely the same time by another trend that continues to pick up momentum: interest in climate change solutions. For many the issue has grown in importance over time, but the last decade of intensifying weather patterns, droughts, farmland erosion, and more has led climate change to become a topic of national attention. It is…

StethoHope: Providing Medical Supplies for Jamaica

Ken, a second-generation Jamaican-American, personally experienced the devastating effects of a lack of health care resources that is all too common in underserved communities. When his grandfather passed away in a hospital in Spanish Town, Jamaica, Ken felt the lack of hope that exists in these medical facilities in need. Many times basic supplies are reused because there just are not enough. One stethoscope may be shared among healthcare professionals on an entire floor. Ken was inspired to do something—and so StethoHope was born.   Many medical facilities in Jamaica lack the basic supplies needed to provide adequate medical care to their patients—and people are suffering as a result. These communities rely on international donations for medical equipment, some receiving 80% of what they need from these donations.  That's where StethoHope comes in. With the introduction of our new Cobb Cardiology stethoscope, we will continue to redistribute the proceeds from sales to provide medical providers worldwide with stethoscopes and other primary medical supplies. When a medical practitioner purchases a stethoscope we put one into the hands of a fellow practitioner who may not otherwise have access to one. We see this transaction not only as a gift of imperative equipment but of hope for medical care providers and their patients in the future.   When you contribute to this campaign you will become a member…

Supporting The Black Mental Wellness Lounge!

Welcome to the Black Mental Wellness Lounge!  Check out our feature in the Baltimore Times!   The Lounge was birthed out of a need I saw during COVID and the racial uprising happening around the country.  My friends and family were stressed, anxious, and frustrated.  I felt in my spirit that I needed to do SOMETHING. Our Mission:  "The Black Mental Wellness Lounge is a new YouTube page dedicated to the promotion of Black mental health tips, education, and resources for our community. Our mission is to create content on Black mental health that anyone, whether a professional in the field or not, can use to increase their knowledge and awareness of the specific mental health needs, challenges, and assets of Black people. Each video comes with strategies and resources for Black people on their own path to mental wellness or to help someone else on their journey. With your help, I believe this can be one of the greatest free resources around Black mental health in the internet!  The best part is that you'll be able to see where your support is going as the upgrades will reflect in the videos.  The top three donors will get a Black Mental Wellness Lounge t-shirt!  Thank you so much for considering us!  Even if you can't donate, please subscribe to the YouTube…

Hood Healing Initiative

The hood healing initiative was born out of partnership between Kovu Healing, LLC and Therapist Tiff LLC. Both April and Tiffany are licensed marriage and family therapist who were born and raised in the Rondo neighborhood in St. Paul- or how we affectionately refer to it as the “ hood” . Growing up in this neighborhood resulted in being exposed to traumatic images and experiences but it also afforded us the opportunity to be nurtured, supported and encouraged by the families of the hood, community centers, enrichment programs as well as community and spiritual leaders.
